Wayne Wheless was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1970. Coming from a household where his father was a drummer, it was no surprise to anyone when he picked up his own pair of sticks at the age of fourteen. As a result of refining his craft and paying his dues, Wayne's band, Frantic Run, was given the opportunity to be the opening act for the Damn Yankees at Six Flags over Georgia in Atlanta during his early twenties. Soon afterward Wayne set his mind upon learning his favorite sport—ice hockey—and in 1994 he strapped on his first pair of skates. After a lot of perseverance and dedication toward teaching himself to skate, he joined a local team in 1994 and thus fulfilled another dream.
In early 1999, he was suddenly afflicted with near-fatal kidney failure at the age of 29. After a long recovery, Wayne began to take stock of his life, and after a year of consideration, he moved west to Colorado where he fell in love with the surrounding countryside and all of its offerings.
Shortly upon arrival, Wayne joined a local hockey league where he became the Captain of his own team, the Knights. In 2002, he continued to play the drums for such local bands as Bodragaz and The Kuzins Band. After several years of near non-stop playing, Wayne decided to take a break from the drums and the constant weekend playing, and took up photography. It was while partaking of this hobby that he came to realize he received a great personal fulfillment from capturing the spirit of his new home, and the states surrounding it, through the lens of his camera.
Wayne uses Canon EOS equipment exclusively, Vanguard tripod, Manfrotto monopod, Tiffen and Cokin filters, Quantaray lenses, and a Tamrac camera pack.
